2024 PEI Amateur Chess Championship

Location: UPEI (University Ave) - (Health Science Building - Room 105 or 106)
HSB = Building 3 on the map: Main door to building is located at the midpoint corner
Most convenient parking is in VP lots, off of University Ave, otherwise the Arena parking lot
Parking on the weekend is free
Format:
5 Round Swiss
CFC Quick Chess Rated* -- No CFC rated players rated 1700 Quick or higher (or equivalent in CMA/Chess.com/Lichess.org)
Organizer can decide whether to use CFC Regular or CFC Quick Rating --- or to make exemptions in special cases
* If 50% or more of the total number of players are school age, their games with each other will also be submitted for CMA rating
Prizes: $200 (based on 10 players): 1st - $100, 2nd - $40, Under 1500 - $40, Under 1200 - $20
Note: The Top finishing Junior player will have their name engraved on the PEI Junior Championship Trophy
Schedule:
12:30pm, 1:25pm, 2:20pm, 3:15pm, 4:10pm
All times after round 1 are approximate (We are only allowing for a 5 minute break between rounds in order to be ready for Sat 5pm Round in PEI Open;
a minimum of 30 minutes allowed as a break at the end of tournament)
1/2 point bye available for rounds 1-4 (maximum of 2)
Time Control:
Game in 20 minutes, 5 second delay

Check-In/Registration: Sat 12pm - 12:15pm
Regular or Early Bird entry fee is to be paid by e-transfer to fredmckim@gmail.com
Early Bird Fee = $20 (on or before Sunday, June 23)
Regular Entry Fee = $25 (on or before Sunday, July 14)
Late Entry = $30
Chess Federation of Canada (CFC):
All players in the Tournament must be (or become) a member of the CFC or pay a CFC Tournament Fee
1) CFC Annual Membership (PEI) - eligibility for any CFC rated events for one year: Adults - $41, Juniors (under 20) - $27
2) CFC Quick Chess Tournament Fee (PEI) - allows entry to this one CFC tournament: Adults - $8, Junior $4
3) CFC Membership Rates and CFC Quick Chess Tournament Fees for other provinces
